So, You Want to Be a Ballet Dancer? is a very timely and informative offering from the Miami City Ballet\’s own principal dancer Jennifer Kronenberg. Jennifer walks the aspiring dancer through the good, the bad and the ugly of the dance world including backstage etiquette, diet requirements and so much more. Ms Kronenberg\’s \”big sisterly\” writing style is particularly appealing and makes this book easy to read and digest. Clearly, her intention is to educate the next generation of professional dancers in areas that many instructors do not touch upon.
So, if you want to be a ballet dancer, this book should be mandatory reading. Any young dancer considering this career path or even parents or instructors would benefit from reading So, You Want to Be a Ballet Dancer? It is easy to see this volume becoming a fixture in studio waiting rooms and school libraries. Ballet buffs and dancers alike will also enjoy the little anecdotes shared in the forward by former Miami City Ballet Artistic Director Edward Villella.
