Happy Monday! Okay, so it\’s not a movie today… It\’s just that I\’m particularly biased to Rob Reiner\’s appearance on one of my favorite TV shows of all time. 30 Rock. (Now available on Hulu.)
The Plot: Season 5, Episode 3 \”Let\’s Stay Together\” is set off when Jack (Alec Baldwin) makes his appearance before the House Subcommittee on Baseball, Quiz Shows, Terrorism and Media on behalf of TV network NBC. Who just happens to be on this subcommittee? Rob Reiner, of course, as himself!
The hearing was originally supposed to discuss \”vertical integration\” but Congresswoman Regina Bookman (Queen Latifah) accuses NBC of being racist. Jack then has to scramble to diversity the network which includes appointing a minority co-head writer on the SNL-like TGS.
Why You Should Watch: It\’s a fun episode. There\’s also Tracy (Tracy Morgan) who is commissioned by Jack to make a TV show for the African American community. Also, a sidebar with Kenneth (Jack McBrayer) trying to rejoin the NBC Page Program in an audition that rivals Toddlers and Tiaras.
Best Quotes: \”The acclaimed director of When Harry Met Sally would never do that!\”, \”Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb… peas and carrots…\” and \”This country was founded on certain principles… Freedom, troops, America, flag… Now I might not know where I\’m going with this but I know that we will get there together!\”
