5 Things: Cabin Fever Edition Week 1

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week despite antsy kids, sparse grocery stores and way too many news reports about the virus that shall not be named. On the upside, it looks like things are getting better around the world. It\’s just going to take some time.

Like many of you, I\’m chilling in the home office for the duration. It\’s not a bad gig although keep in mind that I do not have children at home to simultaneously entertain. (Much admiration to those of you who are able to juggle both!) I will say that being at the office with coworkers does have its advantages but this introvert is pretty happy so far. We\’ll see which I prefer after a few weeks.

Well, whether you\’re quarantined or home with kids who are already bored or enjoying this respite, it is Friday. (I\’ll admit that it doesn\’t seem to mean quite as much when the world seems to have come to a screeching halt.) Check out \”5 Things\” that could help with the cabin fever today. Enjoy!

1) Jimmy Fallon is doing great things with this social distancing thing: Keeping us smiling while also raising money for the charities who help during times like these. It\’s fun to see his \”guests\” and his family get in on the act.

2) At least the penguins at the Chicago Zoo are having a grand time! You have to wonder if they were looking at the fish with the thought that maybe they would come back for lunch at a later time. The video definitely makes me want to go hang out with some penguins.

3) Shaun the Sheep is back on Netflix and he\’s being abducted by an alien… or maybe he\’s doing the abducting. It\’s hard to tell. Either way, this is an adorable film! It\’s family-friendly and I promise that even adults will get a laugh from this one.

4) Since a lot of us have more time on our hands than usual, why not learn a new language (I thought, anyway). I\’m using a site/app called Duolingo to brush up on my Italian in the evenings. You can totally be more ambitious with Japanese, Dutch, and even Welsh if you\’re truly brave!

5) Lastly, be sure to check on your elderly neighbors (maybe call instead of dropping by… social distancing and all). Maybe offer to drive them to one of the fantastic \”seniors only\” shopping hours?

Okay, that\’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and be well!
