Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week like the healthcare workers who received a little help from a clever 12-year-old and his 3D printer. It\’s just the little touch of relief in a chaotic situation that means the world to someone. I sincerely hope that you had a moment like that this week… or were able to give it to someone else!
Well, speaking of chaos, things have been chaotic around here. Keeping up with an increased workload for my job and moving into a new home all coincided with Babbo starting cancer treatments this week. I would ask that you all keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he goes every day for the next six weeks.
In the meantime, it seemed like we can all use a little \”comfort\” as we hit our sixth week of isolation. Here are five of my favorite comforts that you might find comforting, too. Enjoy!
2) What better to go with a movie on the couch than a hot bowl of Macaroni and Cheese? Betty Crocker\’s Havarti mac is my favorite with a couple of addendums: I use whole wheat pasta (whole wheat egg noodles are also fab) with a teaspoon of minced garlic. Delicious!
3) In this corner of the world, tea is another great comfort. So, how about taking a London Fog for a spin? Some fancy people make theirs with lavender but this girl is a bit of a purist. I prefer to savor the citrus flavor (bergamot) of the Earl Grey tea.
4) This time of the year I always reread one of my favorite \”comfort books\”: Jane Austen\’s Persuasion. Jane and Frederick are one of my favorite of Austen\’s couples and I enjoy a glimpse at what historians believe is the heroine closest to the author herself. You\’ll be pleased to know that you can also read Persuasion (for free!) via Google Books or Amazon\’s Kindle App.
5) Lastly, you can\’t have comfort without chocolate in my book. Even better if it\’s warm and in a mug!
Okay, that\’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
