The Christmas song \”Little Drummer Boy\” (originally known as \”Carol of the Drum\”) was written in 1941 by Katherine K. Davis. The teacher, composer, and pianist reportedly wrote the song while trying to take a nap.
Much credit is given to the Trapp Family Singers for launching the song into popular culture. Since then, \”Little Drummer Boy\” has been recorded in a multitude of genres and languages. Not to mention that the carol inspired a claymation film!
