Good morning!
Harriet Monroe, born December 23, 1860, was a poet and the founder/editor of Poetry Magazine. Under her guidance, the magazine weathered the Great Depression and published the likes of T.S. Eliot, Carl Sandberg, Ezra Pound, and D.H. Lawrence.
I wanted to share a selection from a beautiful essay that Monroe wrote for the magazine in December 1926. (You can read the full essay here.) It\’s a beautiful meditation piece today as we draw even closer to Christmas!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
