Happy Friday! Hope that you all had a good/uneventful week. Uneventful weeks are just the best, aren\’t they? When things go relatively to plan, even in the time of COVID, the mundane is comforting.
And you know what else is comforting? Friday! Time to check out \”5 Things\” while you contemplate the weekend. Enjoy!
1) Comedian Drew Barth\’s wife wants him to get in shape. He also has an interesting theory about why soccer isn\’t so popular in the USA. I laughed aloud at this one!
2) The predictions for 2021\’s \”Color of the Year\” are in! My favorite of the batch is \”Ultimate Gray.\” Yes, I like the color but the name is also awesome. It\’s not just gray. It\’s ULTIMATE GRAY! *Insert booming announcer voice here.*
3) I recently enjoyed the book The Matrimonial Advertisement by Mimi Matthews. Helena travels from London to Victorian North Devon intending to wed Justin whom she has never met. After their hasty wedding, it becomes clear that both Helena and Justin have secrets to confront if they\’re ever to be free of their pasts. The Matrimonial Advertisement is the first book in the Parish Orphans of Devon series and it\’s a page-turner. (I literally finished the book in the span of two days!) It has some definite Jane Eyre/Count of Monte Cristo vibes that make for great recreational (or \”fluff\”) reading. I look forward to the rest of the series.
4) Ok, I have to say that I LOVE this edition of Cinema Therapy that discusses Kristoff of Frozen 2. I\’ve always thought that the relationships in the Frozen films were fantastic. It\’s nice to have a therapist back me up. (And, no, I don\’t have plans to shelve my \”ajennda,\” just my \”agenda.\”)
5) Talk about one heck of a silver lining: A gentleman in South Africa wins the lottery on the same day that he\’s dumped by his girlfriend. He reportedly will buy her a fridge as a gesture of goodwill.
