5 Things: Words and Things Edition

Happy Friday! Hope that you all had a great week like the folks who had their Girl Scout cookies delivered by drone! Thin Mints from the sky? I\’m in!

Well, even if your Samoa cravings went unsated this week, you\’ve gotten through to Friday, my friends! Check out some cool stuff to get you through to the weekend. Enjoy!

1) In preparation for this weekend\’s Kentucky Derby, check out this cute video of a horse and a cat hanging out together at Churchill Downs.

2) Check out one of the coolest things that I\’ve read this week: In a mind-blowing, Sci-fi sort of way, Australian researchers have developed a nanotech layer to kick antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Amazing!

3) If you are a fellow \”word nerd,\” you\’ll probably enjoy the daily emails from Word Genius. You can sign up at the bottom of the page. The cool thing about these word emails is that there is a good variety of words with roots in a multitude of languages and works of Literature.

4) Chernobyl is seeing another \”beauty from the ashes\” moment. Wild horses that were not thriving in the wild are now happily living unbothered near the site. 30 of the horses were released near Chernobyl in 1998 and they now number 150. Previously, the breed was hunted to near extinction in the Gobi Desert.

5) A new podcast is launching Monday with none other than Luke (Scott Petterson) from Gilmore Girls! Scott will be recapping every episode of the series. Can\’t wait for this one!

Okay, that\’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
