5 Things: Carb Odyssey Edition

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week like the beer drinkers who discovered that ale in moderation does have health benefits much like red wine. Breweries everywhere are celebrating… probably!

Well, even if beer isn’t your thing (it’s not mine, either, frankly), there’s no need to worry. It’s Friday, friends! You know that means it’s time to sit back with a frosty glass of water and check out another “5 Things.” Enjoy!

The podcast Reply All delved into some of the strangest Wikipedia pages that you’ve likely never seen. And that’s all I’m going to say. It’s totally worth the listen!

A warning: Yours truly was on a carb-kick this week. First up is the purported trend of “cheesecake tacos.” Hmmmm! Sort of like an open cannoli shell with cheesecake filling. Time will tell if I ever give these a try but they are creative and quite attractive to look at.

A recent study brought scientists closer to discovering how the brain learns and remembers movement. This is actually one of my areas of interest considering how much dancers rely on “muscle memory” when it comes to technique. So interesting!

And… back to the carbs. The Google algorithm has decreed that we need these Jalapeno Cheddar Popovers in our lives and so it shall be! I can already taste them warm out of the oven with honey butter. Sigh.

The last of the carb odyssey comes from Better Homes and Gardens which put out a great collection of breakfast sandwich recipes. Because when you’re addicted to carbs, breakfast is your favorite meal by default. (I’m definitely going to exercise now.)

Okay, that’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone, and remember to pray for Ukraine!
