Happy Friday! Hope you all had a great week like the stranded ferry passengers who experienced some unexpected hospitality. This act of kindness is just heartwarming.

Well, even if you were stranded in other ways this week with no friendly host to ease your distress, it is Friday, my friends. That also means it’s time to pour yourself a glass of something cool and check out another “5 Things.” Enjoy!

Believe it or not, I’ve been binge-watching the Netflix show Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons. The massive uptick in crime in my city over the past decade or so has left me to question how crime is handled and whether anything can be done after the fact to rehabilitate repeat offenders. Some countries think that they can and use some interesting tactics. Meanwhile, others, are not so deliberate. It’s an enlightening watch and host Raphael Rowe has some major guts to actually stay behind bars!

One of my favorite podcasts Hidden Brain did a fantastic episode about “How Others See You.” You might be pleased to know that you’re not the only one who thinks about these things and that people probably like you better than you think they do.

YouTuber Peter Santanello has a newish interview with a 94-year-old Holocaust survivor. May we never forget!

The incomparable Olivia Coleman reads a 17th-century letter that is absolutely hilarious! Goodness… I wish that I were that self-confident. (Kidding.)

And, to satisfy the odd sweet craving as well as a use for those bananas languishing on the countertop: Old-Fashioned Banana Cake!

Okay, that’s all for now. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
